Sustainable development of tourism in Cyprus

The aim of this final thesis is the evaluation of the current situation in the area of sustainable development of tourism in Cyprus. The thesis is structured into several chapters. First of them describes the sustainable development in general, it presents beside other things the forms of so called gentle tourism and the principles and pillars it is based on. The second chapter describes the countrys geography, history, economical situation, environment and infrastructure. Another part presents Cyprus as a destination of tourism, with its attractiveness and differences related to the geopolitical situation. It also describes the incoming and domestic tourism. The last chapter analyses the permanent sustainability of tourism development in Cyprus. It contains also the final evaluation of the current situation based on the use of relevant indicators of sustainable development of tourism and the use of the created SWOT analysis.
Cyprus: the politico-economic aspects of the island in the context of the European integration

This thesis deals with politico-economic aspects of the island, through which the Greco-Turkish relations affects the formation of international relations in the world. The first chapter briefly captures the historical and political developments from antiquity to the present. The second chapter describes the politico-economic aspects of the Cyprus Republic and its efforts to integrate into European structures. The third part of this thesis focuses on the politico-economic aspects of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the issue of its international recognition. The last chapter of this thesis is devoted to attempts to resolve the Cyprus issue and the possibilities for the future direction of the island.
Cyprus dispute - current challenges

Master's diploma thesis Cyprus dispute -- current challenges deals with the current political situation in Cyprus and bi-communal talks between divided Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot entity living on the island. Negotiations are conducted under the auspices of external actors, and under the influence of the parties interested in the conflict, and the primary responsibility has been assumed by the political representation of the Republic of Cyprus and TRNC. Thesis introduces alternatives of the conflict settlement, perspectives of the potential development of events in the unification process and their possible impacts on the Cypriot environment. It presents the most signifiant plans of the international community on the political settlement of the island and reaching the agreement in the chronological order from the end of the World War Two up to the current solutions based on the actual tendencies of development. These suggestions have been conceived on the basis of the international political context and intra-political situation in Cyprus in the time period of anti-colonial struggle leading to the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus, Constitution collapse, outbreak of violence, Turkish invasion, declaration of independence of the Turkish Republic of the Northern Cyprus, accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU up to the presence.
Accession of Turkey to the EU – economic and political aspects

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate Turkey as a potential EU member. My thesis is divided into four main parts. The first chapter describes the basic geographic information about Turkey, the main historical and political milestones and the importance of the position within the whole region. The second chapter deals with the development of relations between Turkey and the EU and describes the customs union. The third chapter assesses the current economic situation in the country. The last chapter concentrates on the political aspects of accession - the respect for democracy, minorities' status, the Cyprus issue and the impact of a possible accession of Turkey into EU.
